CONCLUSION TO RWC BROADCAST RIGHTS ISSUE WELCOMED - 19 Oct '09
The announcement today of the Government’s agreement to a plan for the joint free-to-air broadcast of the Rugby World Cup has been welcomed by Maori Television, TVNZ and TV3.
Maori Television Chief Executive, Jim Mather, said he was pleased that the matter had been concluded.
He said all three broadcasters were working collaboratively to finalise the details of the bid, which would be submitted to the IRB as soon as possible. As lead broadcaster Maori Television would work with the other broadcasters to achieve a positive bid result.
He said that should the bid be accepted by the IRB, all broadcasters looked forward to producing a successful Rugby World Cup broadcast for all New Zealanders.
