KETE ARONUI, Māori Television’s breathtaking contemporary art series is back to grace our screens once again - premiering Tuesday April 8th at 8.00 PM.`

This sixth series of KETE ARONUI showcases even more of the best of Maori art and artists across all genres. From Kaitaia to the Bluff, the best artists in Aotearoa are filmed in their own environments and talk frankly about their work, their sources of inspiration and their interactions with their loved ones.

Each episode takes an in depth look at an individual, couple or group allowing a comprehensive  look at the complexities of the artistic process.

Running for a warming winter season, KETE ARONUI is appointment viewing for budding musicians, film makers, weavers, carvers and dancers. Best of all, it’s an opportunity for art admirers to see how these artists create their magic.

This series of KETE ARONUI produced by KIWA Media, premieres with the musical world of Tiki Taane.  We learn more about his spiritual journey and find out why he is one of our most talented and acclaimed musicians.

Sofia Minson is a young artist who’s talent belies her years.  KETE ARONUI looks at the way she explores themes of identity, culture and mythical pasts. 

Episode Four: Tuesday April 29

KETE ARONUI voyages with sculptress Shona Rapira Davies, as she shares her recent loss, grief and injustice.  

Episode Five: Tuesday May 6

Moana Maniopoto is the focus this week and learns how she plans to push musical boundaries in the future.
